We are proud to offer a vertical exploration of one of Napa Valley’s most revered and beloved winemaking estates, the Eisele vineyard.
With a winemaking history dating back to the 1880s, this vineyard has long been renowned for its perfect terroir, which mimics the soils of Bordeaux and the climate of Southern France. This tasting will explore the years under the stewardship of the Araujo family as well as the Pinault family. We will feature two Altagracia wines from 2014 and 2015 from the celebrated Pinault family, of Chateau Latour fame, and sample three wines from 2011-2013, the final vintages of the esteemed Araujo family. The Araujos established organic and biodynamic practices twenty years ago, after purchasing the land from the Eisele family. They reworked the estate grounds into a sustainable viticultural model that still makes its noble presence felt today.
We will focus mostly on their Estate Blends, the Altagracia line. In their own words, the Araujo family intended these wines to have the elegance of their Eisele vineyard’s best wine. They must have that Bordelaise power and grace, but be more approachable in their youth.
The Altagracia bottlings are the Eisele’s answer to Bordeaux-style blends, each one Cabernet Sauvignon-based with different percentages of blending grapes, depending on the ripeness achieved in each vintage. These wines each display the hallmark finesse and elegance of the Eisele vineyard, while showcasing the best qualities of each vintage. As a special treat, we are also offering a tasting of their 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon, their flagship wine from a stellar vintage. You won’t want to miss the chance to taste these rare bottlings–and we will have a select few to offer for sale.
